Circuit FAQs & Logistics

Can this 5-day classic circuit be completed safely without AMS?
Yes, provided you do not ride on Day 1. Rest completely upon flying into Leh. Spending Night 2 in Nubra Valley (10,000 ft) actually drops you lower than Leh, accelerating recovery before the higher Pangong night halt.
Is the Agham-Shyok route legal for foreign riders with PAP?
Yes. Foreign passport holders holding a valid Protected Area Permit (PAP) for Nubra and Pangong are fully authorized to transit the Agham-Shyok direct crossover without returning to Leh.
Do I need to carry auxiliary jerrycans on the 5-day loop?
While the Himalayan 450 (17L tank) can cover Nubra to Pangong on a full tank from Diskit, carrying a 5L auxiliary jerrycan is strongly advised as a buffer against pump closures in Tangtse.
What motorcycle is ideal for this 5-day circuit?
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the optimal choice for its liquid-cooled thin-air horsepower and 200mm suspension. The Hero XPulse 200 4V is the top lightweight alternative for solo riders.
Are chauffeured cabs available for this 5-day itinerary?
Yes. Ride & Fire provides union-compliant Toyota Innova Crysta and Fortuner 4x4 cabs with veteran local Ladakhi mountain drivers for this exact circuit.
